I noticed when our advertisement bids went up. I thought, "why are we suddenly getting bids on our add boxes that have been empty for weeks?"
The answer is here, an absolutely fascinating and intelligent discussion of the eternal present, or the idea of a world existing without past or future – an unchanging eternity. The forum is at Freak Angels, a very cool steampunk graphic novel written by Warren Ellis and illustrated by Paul Duffield. It seems those very intelligent folks have a pretty solid handle on the story of Wormtooth, so if you’ve got any questions or confusions you should check it out. The grey boxes are spoilers, you can highlight them to read the content. It took me a while to figure that out… I was so confused.
Anyway, cool stuff guys.
In other news, if you’re a fan at all of web-series and/or independent film making (of the future) then check out Joss Wheadon’s manifesto for Dr. Horrible. The link is here, and of particular interest is the section answering the question: "Why, Joss? Why? Why now, why free, why us?" If somebody printed that out and wrote "declaration of independence" across the top I would sign it, and then I would lift my little steam powered zip gun to my shoulder, and march off to do battle for great justice against the Forest Kings. And I wish I wish I could be there at the comicon pannel to hear what they’re talking about with the DVD.
Fanboy a little bit? Maybe. But Joss is right about one thing, well many things, but one thing in particular: the internet is the future. Everybody knows it. The question is how. Production equipment is costing less and less, so the real question is becoming where does the money come from to up the production scale on web-content? There are some answers, Joss is exploring one of them for the big end, the people over at onnetworks are exploring another more appropriate for smalltime informative content, DLF.tv is yet another.
Stay on target, folks. Stay on target.
